How do you examine yourself before taking communion?
KCM's purpose is to mature believers worldwide in the use of their faith. Communion is for those who have made the decision to accept Jesus as the forgiver of their sins and the leader of their lives. Has the pandemic put you in a position to where you can’t get out and worship with other believers? There is a benefit to the situation- we can worship the Lord in an intimate atmosphere and take communion at home with our family. I’ve grown up in a Christian home my whole life, but there have been times I have struggled with my faith.
I am 80 and feel so handicapped in my usefulness to and for God. Thank you for your help, encouragement and prayers. May you increase in your ministry and I pray for more blessings to you. Hubby does communion to shut-ins after our service each Sunday.. They all look forward to him coming & praying with them .

That’s why Christians still take communion to this day. It’s about being reminded of what Jesus did for us on the cross and it’s a time to celebrate how He has saved us. When you do communion, the bread and juice symbolize what Jesus did for us. The bread is a symbol of His body that was broken for us.
This is where he instituted the Lord’s supper and wine was used during the Passover. Nevertheless, when we have children and recovering alcoholics, we do not want to tempt them. If you have younger kids, stick with the basics. Even a 2 year old can understand and repeat that communion is about Jesus. That’s a great foundation to lay.
I sincerely hope you celebrate and partake communion at home soon. It’s a wonderful way for followers of Jesus to do something He asked us to, which is to remember what He did for us. And it’s the perfect time to thank Him for His grace which gives us life. Distribute the bread and wine/juice.

The eating of the bread and drinking of the wine that led to what we call communion is still a regular part of celebrating Passover that Jewish people and some Christians celebrate each year. Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.

THE BLOOD OF JESUS
Jesus had this idea when He was having a special dinner with His disciples. The dinner was to remember something called Passover which had happened a long time before Jesus was born. It was a miraculous event where an angel of the Lord passed over the land and protected the Israelites from being killed by a mean king. Every year, the people would celebrate the Passover to remember how God had saved them. That’s what Jesus and the disciples were celebrating at the time of the first communion. Jesus promised to spare us eternal death and cover our sins by His own blood.
Purchase a Communion set for your own personal use. There are even individual, prefilled cup and wafer sets with a long shelf life available for easy use or transport. Alternatively, you can use crackers and grape juice.
